Full-Grain Selection
We source only the finest full-grain leather from tanneries in Italy and the American West. Each hide is inspected by hand for natural markings and grain quality.

In 2019, Marcus Torres left a corporate design job in San Francisco with a simple idea: make things the way they used to be made. By hand. With materials that get better with time.
He rented a small workshop in Portland's Pearl District, bought his first set of hand tools, and started cutting leather on a marble slab he found at a salvage yard. The first journal took six hours. The customer wore it every day for three years and came back for another.
That's how Atelier & Co started. Not with a business plan, but with one customer who understood what good leather feels like.
Every piece begins with a single hide and ends with your hands. Here's how we make it happen.

See our leathers →Each pattern is cut by hand using precision knives on marble slabs. No die cuts, no machines — every edge follows the artisan's steady hand.
Watch the process →Saddle-stitched by hand using waxed linen thread. Two needles, one thread — a technique that's been used for centuries because it simply doesn't unravel.
Feel the stitch →Edges are beveled, dyed, and burnished with a wooden slicker until they're smooth as glass. A process that takes patience but creates a seamless finish.
Trace the edge →Solid brass closures, rivets, and pen loops — not plated, not coated. Real brass that develops a warm patina alongside your leather over years of use.
See the metal →Every piece comes with a lifetime guarantee. If it breaks, we fix it. If it wears, we restore it. That's how confident we are in what we make.

What people say about their Atelier & Co pieces.
"I bought my first Heritage Journal three years ago. The leather has developed this incredible patina — it looks better now than when it was new. I've never owned something that ages this gracefully."
"The craftsmanship is extraordinary. You can feel the hand-stitching the moment you pick it up. I've tried dozens of wallets — this is the one I'll keep for life."
"I ordered a custom messenger bag as a wedding gift. The monogramming was perfect, the leather was stunning, and it arrived in a beautiful cotton dust bag. The whole experience felt premium."
